Coach,

I got to spend some time at Mammoth Sports Construction this week, and present to their entire team on the Six Pillars of Championship Culture.

While I was there I was blown away by three things: 1) The scope of their impact and operations– they provide EVERYTHING a school needs to “create the space where passion and community collide.”   2) The excellence with which they worked– everyone from architects to backhoe operators were dialed in to give their absolute best to the task in front of them. 3) Their commitment to culture– which as I shared with them in my presentation, was just the character of their organization.

When I asked Mammoth founder and CEO, Jake Farrant what he was most proud of he said (and I am paraphrasing), “That everyone, no matter their role was all in and committed to the Mammoth family. Regardless of their role, they are willing to sacrifice for the good of the tribe.”

This, to me, captures the essence of what it means to be ONE TEAM. Everyone, all-in-committed to doing their part for the good of the TRIBE!

In this week’s Texas Way Weekly, I am going to share with you three FREE resources that team members from across the state of Texas are offering up.

1. Visit (or revisit) the 2Words Character Development sportsmanship curriculum.

This is the first and most obvious resource for you. The team at 2Words Character Development went over the top to create a first-of-its-kind sportsmanship curriculum, and thanks to Mammoth Sports Construction, it is absolutely FREE!

While all of you have signed up for The Texas Way, the data is showing that not all your coaches are watching the curriculum.

I will say this over and over again: The best curriculum in the world is useless if you don’t use it.

Watch it at the beginning of every sports season with your coaches and athletes (remember those are two DIFFERENT curriculums). This matters, not only for completion of the program, but because it communicates your expectations.

When you use the limited time you have to watch, implement, and reinforce teachings on playing and coaching The Texas Way, it communicates just how important it is.

2. Promote with Sign Champ.

Remember how we have all kinds of promo designs in your “More Resources” dashboard?

Well now, thanks to our friends at Sign Champ, you can get printed stadium signs FOR FREE!!! No strings attached. No other shoe to drop. Just free signs. Here’s what Amy Gilbert, from Sign Champ had to say:

Sign Champ is thrilled to partner with The Texas Way to promote good sportsmanship at all secondary school competitions and help brand campus facilities with the message. As part of this partnership, Sign Champ is offering an exclusive package for campuses that sign up for The Texas Way.

Each campus will receive five 18″x24″ coroplast signs and four 2’x3′ banners to help facilitate a positive and respectful environment at school events.

Join us in fostering a culture of good sportsmanship and school pride with Sign Champ and The Texas Way! To claim your signage package, please fill out this form:

3. Engage your community with HomeTown Ticketing.

Right after we launched The Texas Way, I got to sit down with Nick Mirisis, CEO of HomeTown Ticketing. Once he heard about what we, as a state, are doing to combat bad sportsmanship, he was all in and came back with this great idea:

On every digital ticket you sell through HomeTown Ticketing, you have the opportunity to place advertisements. You can use one of those spaces to tell your community about The Texas Way! You can link the advertisement to The Texas Way website, or to an internal site that you use to promote to your community about how your district is playing The Texas Way, absolutely FREE!

To find out how to use your advertisement space for The Texas Way, follow this link: https://hometown-ticketing.typeform.com/to/cQGVQWuG

Combating bad sportsmanship in the Great State of Texas is going to take all of us! Each one, in our own way sacrificing for the tribe. Spending the time, the energy, the effort and our best to make a difference. It’s what makes great teams great. And it is what will change the tide on sportsmanship in Texas.

Thank you for being a part of this. Thank you for your work. If I can help you or your district in any way, or you want to tell your story, email me at Mackey@2words.tv.

Until next week: This work isn’t complicated…it’s as simple as two words: sacrifice for the ONE TEAM!
