Stickers, Scripts, and Other Helpful Stuff

Coach,

If you haven’t started school yet, you are just days away. I know in my community we have had everything from “stuff the locker”, to “meet the panthers”, to school board meetings, to the start of fall sports and everything in between.

The thing that all of these school kickoff events have in common is that they all help shape and tell the story of the upcoming year. A year of promise, high expectations, big challenges, and most importantly, being on the same team. We want to help you tell your Texas Way story. That’s why on the Texas Way for Coaches page, there is a box near the top labelled Additional Info & Resources. The first tab of that box contains a button labelled Assets & Resources. Clicking that button will take you to this link. The webpage looks like this:

The variety of promotional materials gives you a lot of options, but that can also lead to the question: Where do I start?

So, here are three recommendations for where to begin.

1. SIGNS

Why do we put our school’s name and mascot all over the walls? So everyone who enters the locker room or the stadium knows who we are. To make sure they also know that people in this arena play the Texas Way, it makes sense to put it on the wall, too.

The Posters & Banners link has graphics in various sizes to print out and post up around the stadium, locker room, or school.

The Signage link has additional graphics, in case you want to specify that your Campus or Gym supports The Texas Way.

2. GEAR

Similar to putting it on the wall, we put our school name on t-shirts, gym bags, jerseys, and other gear so everybody knows who we play for wherever we go. We can take The Texas Way on the road in the same way.

The T-Shirt Artwork link has a few different designs that can be screen-printed or embroidered on clothing items. Encourage student-athletes to go all-in on repping The Texas Way by getting their opinions on t-shirt colors and designs.

If you want to go beyond clothing, check out the Stickers link. Print a stack of these to put on everything from lockers to water bottles. The football team at El Paso Americas High School put the stickers on their helmets.

PLUS, our friends at SignChamp are all in on The Texas Way, and they are offering every district one free set of signs to promote the program. If you haven’t already, click this link to access the form for your free signage.

3. STATEMENTS

Signs and Gear are conversation starters. They make someone ask: Hey, what IS The Texas Way? That’s an important step, but it’s only the first step in encouraging everyone in our great state to play The Texas Way.

To take the next step, we need to be able to answer the question: What IS The Texas Way?

The Fan/Parent Letters link has two documents that you can personalize for your district, school, or team. The first is a letter to parents of student-athletes, and it explains what The Texas Way is and why your school or district has chosen to support it. The second is a Fan Commitment Form, which can be included with the parent letter or handed out to attendees at games.

The Announcements link provides a script for game night announcers to read at the start of that game. This announcement briefly explains what The Texas Way is, and it sets the expectation that everyone in the gym–players, coaches, officials, and fans–will play The Texas Way.

Final Thoughts

Next week we will release our first Texas Way Monthly Emphasis for the month of September. So, be on the lookout for that to drop on Wednesday, August 20th, 2025. For a sneak peek at that, check out this video!

Thank you for being a part of this. Thank you for your work. If I can help you or your district in any way, or you want to tell your story, email me at Mackey@2words.tv.
